shadow plane’ 2024
Three sublimation transfers on polyester, hand-stitched, wooden frame
98 × 72 × 4 cm

‘shadow plane’ is composed of three photographic sublimation transfers on polyester, layered, hand-stitched, and held within a double-sided open wooden frame. Repetition and slight displacement between the textile layers loosen the photograph from a single image plane.

The image surfaces remain separate while becoming connected through overlap, light, and shadow. Depending on the viewer’s position, fragments move forward or recede; gaps, densities, and cast shadows become part of the image rather than secondary effects.

The open frame supports the layered textiles without fully fixing their spatial relation. In ‘shadow plane’, photography becomes a shifting field of surfaces: material, translucent, and responsive to light, distance, and encounter.
